The holiday season is officially over. I have un-decked my halls: I always get the sensation, when I don't have the garlands down by Twelfth Night (Jan 6 - in this case I finally got the last of them down yesterday, but I STARTED on the 6th) - the sensation that I get when I haven't showered and it's 2 in the afternoon and I'm still in my jammies (something I haven't done in decades, by the way). (There was a period of time when I did a lot of that).

A LOT of work to do before school starts up again in February.

I have the same feeling about the altar in the zendo recently. I just got back last night from being out of town for two weeks, to find all the fir boughs, holly and winterberries I'd put up before I left. (It's less busy than it sounds, I suppose, though... oh, let's face it, I have rather pagan sensibilities when it comes to seasonably appropriate altar decorations. Just kind of minimalist pagan.)

No huge surprise, but... the zendo was only closed for the first week. It's been open for over a week now. It is true that I'm usually the person to deal with altar decorations, but it's just so wrong. Normally I'd change things out on Saturday, but I'm not even sure I'm going to make it until this evening. (I might just strip out all the holly, and generally tone things down. And then find a nice bare branch by Saturday... And keep everything really spare and grim at least until the end of the month. Yes.)
