Mental editing and the joys of the imagination
Ah, the joys of old Dr. Who episodes: RADA and RSC refugees making their rent in rubber monster-suits. Impeccable elocution and zippers up the back. It's one thing to display cosmic horror in front of a green-screen where there's eventually going to be a CGI Araknoid coming at you; but to convincingly show terror when confronted with what's obviously a guy rolling around in a spray-painted parachute? Now, that's acting! (And, that's the farthest thing I can get from the Civil War. Comfort-food for the brain.)

Recovering from Wednesday night class, complicated by a cold, and the to-and-fro of putting together a Family Easter Lunch; all I've really wanted to do for two days is sleep. Instead I've been ironing pink tablecloths and tracking down tiny little Easter-baskets for table-favors. We do what we have to do.

That made me laugh for a good five minutes straight.

I love the new Doctors (and Captain Jack), but I'll take Tom Baker and his jellybabies over all three of them put together. And a thing that makes me scream about the newly remodelled series? That "they" are calling the shows and the DVDs "Series 1" and "Series 2" and "Series 3". No, no, NO! I admit that I've lost count and don't know what series they are, but I know they're not that. (Of course, being a librarian who's worked with serials/periodicals for years, I call them "new series season 1", etc. *g*)

Have a happy Easter, and feel better!

Much agreement! David Tennant is adorable, but they can't beat the old shows. Tho I'm more a Peter Davison fan than Tom Baker. Still.

And yes! emphatically to the Series one, etc. Like everyone is supposed to forget the show has a history.

Oh I love Davison too--I love each and every Doctor, in different ways. Did you see the short Who-special thing with Davison and Tennant? (Children in Need?) There's a line in it (I won't say which, just in case) that made me burst right into tears. I was lucky enough to meet Peter Davison a number of years ago at a con in Atlanta--and I met the late Anthony Ainley at another con, up in Ohio, around the same time. I think the Who episodes with that Doctor and that Master are some of the most delicious of the entire run of the series. *sigh* Happy memories.

Time Crash? Yes, indeed. I've finally stopped watching it every day- only every 3 or 4!

"You were always my favorite Doctor" Is that the one? Yeah, tears, here, too. I met Peter Davison in Boston years ago. Would have loved to meet Anthony Ainley. Best Master, ever!

One of the funnier moments of that old British comedy The Good Life (or Good Neighbours, as it was also called) was when the lead couple go into Dalek impressions and dodder around each other, one arm extended each, buzzing, "Exterminate! Exterminate!"

I love Dr Who ... went to see it made one time at the Beeb - that was when K9 was the star! Lol!

You're used to big budget American TV series ... but Dr Who is a flagship programme made on the kind of money TV companies in the States would laugh at.

I hope you feel better soon - grotty to feel ill and have to keep going ...
